Is LST A Good Fit?

This small “test” is will help you determine if LST is a good fit for you in terms of hosting LST teams or starting and LST ministry at your location.  Answer “yes” or “no” for each question.  Note – “Reader” is what LST calls the person from your neighborhood wanting to participate.  Often these are non-Christians interested only in improving their English.  LST Team members are “Workers.” 

1.  Is there a demand in your city for learning English?
2. Is the general English level of potential Readers ABOVE beginner level?
3. Do you have access to more than one potential source of “Readers?” (Sources might be a local university, a refugee population, younger population interested in education, etc. LST teams can work with 10-15 Readers per Worker per week.  Having at least 4-5 hours per day of LST sessions is ideal.)
4. Can we expect LST Workers to have Readers at least 4-5 hours a day?
5. Are the leaders of your local church/organization enthusiastic about using LST?
6. Do you have someone who can be the Host? (This is a paid staff person from your group or a trained volunteer who speaks English fluently.  They will coordinate with LST and assist the teams while they are on site.)
7. Is your church/organization enthusiastic about welcoming new people from your neighborhood?  These LST Readers might look different, act different, and believe different than others who are currently part of your group.
8. Can you agree with and work within LST’s Statement of Faith?
9. Are there good options for housing a team comfortably?
10. Is there reliable public transportation?
11. Is there a comfortable and convenient work site where the LST team can offer LST sessions?
12. In general, is there political and economic stability at your site?
13. Is there access to good healthcare?
14. Is there regular access to reliable internet/wifi?
15. Is your site safe for visitors?
16. Are you interested in using LST as a significant part of your outreach (hosting multiple teams during the year)?
17. Is LST something you can commit to for the next 2-3 years?
